Michael J. Durkin, 60, died on November 16, 2017 at Regional Hospice and Palliative Care in Danbury in the company of his family and friends. Michael was born in Danbury on June 8, 1957 to the late Patrick J. and Annette E. (von Gal) Durkin.
A lifetime Danbury resident, Michael graduated from Immaculate High School and later from Western Connecticut State University with a Business degree. For most of his career, he worked in various accounting roles and retired from Hologic (Lorad), Inc. in 2015.
Michael is survived by his siblings, Nancy E. Durkin of Mansfield, MA and James P. Durkin of Danbury, along with many cousins and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his ‘Uncle Mike’ – Michael A. Durkin and his brother-in-law, David E. Murphy III.
An avid reader, Michael enjoyed mysteries, histories and anything on automobiles and architecture.
In lieu of flowers, Michael asked that donations be directed to The Salvation Army and Bethel VNA.
The family also expresses its great appreciation for the care provided by the Bethel VNA and the City of Danbury EMTs and firemen.
The family will receive friends at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2pm – 5pm. Interment at St. Peter Cemetery will be arranged by the family at a future date.
