Red was born in Danbury, CT on April 7, 1931. He was the oldest son of the late Nicholas DePalma and Elizabeth Renner DePalma. Red attended Danbury High School and served in the U.S. Navy.
After Red’s service to our country, he worked at his family’s plumbing and heating business, “DePalma Brothers” until he opened and operated his own realty company L. J. DePalma Realty, which he operated until his retirement.
Red spent his retirement playing golf with his dear friends and colleagues at Richter Park. He and his lovely departed wife, Shirley, spent many joyful years of marriage and enjoyed their retirement spending winters in Florida and returning home to 5 Douglas Drive, Brookfield, CT
Red is survived by several nephews and a niece: Denise DePalma, Richard DePalma, Robert DePalma, Carol Giglio, and Peter and Josie Ceulemans.
Besides his wife and parents, Red was predeceased by his brother, Richard F DePalma.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, March 18, 2019 at St. Marguerite Church, Brookfield, with the Rev. Shawn W. Cutler, Pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends may pay their respects to the family one half hour prior to the service at the church.
