Born in Danbury, John was a son of the late John J., Sr and Myrtle McNamee Kovacs, he attended Danbury schools.
John was a longtime employee with Danbury Square Box Company. He was most recently employed by Grolier Corp. in Danbury before moving to Florida in 1986. His strong work ethic was instilled in his children.
John was an avid Yankees and Danbury High School Football fan. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, pool and especially playing his harmonica.
Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, John J. Kovacs, III; and his siblings: Betty Elliott, Frances M. Rotundo, Louise M. Bunting, Virginia Schrack and Joseph Kovacs.
Survivors include his children: Gary F. (Marisue) Kovacs of Alamogordo, NM; Donald (Rita) Kovacs of Danbury, CT; and Susan M. Norkowski (Charlie Anderson) of Danbury, CT. 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022 at St. Peter Church, Danbury, CT. Interment will be private.
Friends will be received from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
