Born in Danbury, CT on February 22, 1929 to James J. Kery and Ella (Michinko) Kery, Jim graduated from Danbury High School. Jim was a “jack of all trades” who built homes and boats and loved restoring antique cars. He loved the “Brooklyn” Dodgers and UConn basketball teams. Jim ran Kery Auto Body in Danbury for many years. He later worked as an insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance and in his retirement years, worked as the “Tool Answer Man” at Sears.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Mariellen, who died in 2010.
He is survived by his children Patricia A. Vinkenes (Mark), Sean M. Kery (JoAnn DeWitt) and Brian F. Kery (Lori King); and grandchildren, Rachel, MaryBeth (Ken), Caroline and John Kery and Audrey Vinkenes. He also leaves nephew Billy Keenan, niece Kathyann White and caregiver Ron Pierrot who hold a special place in his heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Monday June 10th at St. Peter Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends may call from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday June 9th at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity at www.habitat.org .
