Helen Russell

Helen Russell, 89, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully February 8, 2018 at The Regional Hospice in Danbury, CT. She was the wife of the late Henry Russell, to whom she was married to for over 51 years.

Helen was born in Glenbrook, CT. in 1928 to Llewellyn and Eva Poakeart Bromfield. She is survived by two children and their spouses, Keith and Debby Russell and Laurie and Howard Levitt, six grandchildren: Kim Russell, Kevin Russell, Jamie Levitt (Sara), Jared Levitt, Matthew Levitt (Allison), Carrie Kaplan (Barry) as well as five great grandchildren. Helen is survived by her brother Robert Bromfield and his wife Elsie, sister-in-law Beverly Bromfield and many nieces and nephews.

In 1966 Helen and her family moved from Stamford to Ridgefield where she became involved in the community. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, Neighborhood Watch and the VNA. She was employed by Allergy Control Products until her retirement.

Helen's faith was the foundation of her life. Her faith led her to love and cherish her family, to do good works and to serve God through her church. She was a member of Ridgefield Baptist Church and was active in many ministries. She taught Sunday school and Children's Church, sang in the choir, and directed and taught Vacation Bible School. Helen's faith caused her to always have a smile and a caring disposition. She truly cared about people and people often confided in her.

Helen resided at the Village at Brookfield Commons for the last eight years as her Alzheimer's disease required additional care and support. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Village for their compassionate care of their Mom.

A Memorial Service for Helen will be held at the Ridgefield Baptist Church, Ridgefield, CT., on March 10, 2018 at 11:00am. There will be a luncheon following in the church hall.
