Frank Joseph Rotunda, age 79, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2013 with his loving family by his side after fighting a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease for the past 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Helen Strong Rotunda, of more than 50 years.
He was born in Danbury, Connecticut on January 11, 1934 to Thomas and Dorothy Rotunda. He was a member of the Danbury Police Force and was a co-founder of the Police Athletic League. Later he was employed as a Recreational Supervisor for the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, and retired after 25 years of service. Frank was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police and National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his four children, Linda Messenger of Naugatuck, Connecticut, Frank and Nancy Rotunda of Placentia, California, Dorothy and Glenn Davis of Lubbock, Texas, and Tom and Erin Rotunda of Danbury, Connecticut. He was a devoted grandfather to ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Frank is survived by two sisters and two brothers.
Frank loved people and knew someone everywhere he went. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, and never missed an opportunity to attend a game or dance recital of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Friday, July 26, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Church on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
