Ernie (aka Sonny) was born August 19, 1925, in Danbury to the late Ernest P., Sr. and Susanna (Deubel) Gustafson.
In addition to his parents, Ernie is predeceased by his wife, Christina B. (Sasso) Gustafson, his sisters Evelyn Schrade and Anna Parzuchowski, and his brother Ralph Gustafson. Ernie is survived by his sons Marc (Kimberly) of Houston, and Guy of Bethel, granddaughter Kira White and great-grandson Benjamin White of Houston, grandson Eric of Portland, Connecticut, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Ernie lived most of his life in Danbury and Bethel, Connecticut, but also lived in Bradenton and West Palm Beach, Florida, and Tucson, Arizona. Ernie was a graduate of DeVry Technical Institute, Chicago, and was an Aviation Cadet, Army Air Force, Jan. 1944-Nov. 1945 (WWII). Ernie worked for numerous businesses including Eaton Corporation, Dade-Behring, and Data-Control Systems, Inc.
The family would like to thank the staff of Danbury Hospital, Bethel Health Care, and Regional Hospice for their care and comfort during Ernie’s brief illness.
Visitation for Ernest will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, CT. Words of Remembrance will be offered on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 12:00 pm, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave Extension, Danbury, CT.
