Dorothy Pepin Shaffer of Danbury, CT, beloved wife of the late Charles A. Schaffer, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Wilfred G. Pepin and Margaret McGauley Pepin, her sister Jean Marie Pepin, her brother Donald Pepin and nephew Thomas C. Pepin
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Peter’s School, Danbury High School, Danbury Hospital School of Nursing, and West Conn. Dorothy studied Occupational Health and pursued this profession for many years. She began her career as a Nurse in the private practice of Dr. Gaffney in Danbury, CT., and subsequently joined the Medical Department as the Head Nurse at Davis & Geck, a Division of American Cyanamid in Danbury, CT.
Dorothy was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Parish where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and also served as a Eucharist Minister to the homebound. She also volunteered at Danbury Hospital.
Dorothy is survived by her brothers and their wives Joseph and Alice Pepin, Thomas G and Margaret Pepin of Danbury, and Sister-In-Law Paulette Pepin of Danbury, CT. Dorothy also is survived by her nieces and nephews, Jean and Tim Belansky of Bethel, Margaret and Richard Maffei of Saint Augustine, FL, Deborah and Bryan Newman of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth Demo, Danbury, CT, Barbara, and Robert Lanza, Madison, CT, Dorothy Pepin of Oxford, CT, Joseph Pepin Jr. of Newtown, Ct, Gregory and Cyndi Pepin of Brooklyn, NY. and Terese Pepin of Southbury.
A Mass of Christian burial for Dorothy will be held Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Church, 104 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810. Following the mass of Christian burial will be a burial at St. Peter Cemetery, 71 Lake Ave Extension, Danbury, CT 06810.
