Dorothy was born in the Bronx, NY, a daughter of the late Achille and Dorothy Federico. She attended St. Helena's High School in the Bronx and was a 1972 graduate. Prior to graduating St. Helena's Dorothy met the love of her life Joseph Galante.
She went on to work for Coca-Cola as a receptionist. Dorothy then attended Bronx Beauty School where she became a licensed hairdresser. Shortly after she began working in her brother's hair salon Blowout in the Bronx, working alongside her sisters Carol and Laurie. Joseph and Dorothy went on to have three children Dorothy, Achille and Nicole Galante. While Joseph worked construction by day Dorothy worked as a waitress at night.
Dorothy enjoyed sausage pies from Louie and Ernie's, smoked mozzarella, prosciutto and olive bread from Arthur Ave and you can’t forget her love for Yoo-Hoo’s & Riesen’s, She loved keeping family traditions alive like baking Easter bread and Italian Struffoli. She was the life of the party. During her pastime she enjoyed spending time in the sun, swimming, listening to music and dancing the night away. She also enjoyed a good Rum and coke or a chocolate martini. She adored her grandchildren dearly; "Nana Nana Nana", "We're having a party,” and spending time with them. She was always there for anyone who needed a seat at our table and loved late night snacks and chats. She loved life and a good time.
Dorothy was survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph; their children: Achille (Nicole) Galante; Nicole (Michael) Minischetti; and Dorothy Galante (Michael Miles); and their four grandchildren: Steven, Valentina, Greyson and Joseph.
