He was born on January 27, 1941, in Danbury, CT to the late Charles A. Gorman, Sr. and Mary (Wixted) Gorman. He was also predeceased by his sister, Susan Altenburg and brother, Philip Gorman.
Tony graduated from Saint Peter School, Fairfield College Preparatory School, and Western Connecticut State University. After graduation from WCSU, Tony began his career in education as a teacher and coach in Watertown, CT. He joined the Abbott Tech faculty in Danbury, CT in 1966 as a teacher, coach, and later Athletic Director. He served as basketball coach for twenty-two seasons. Tony served as a high school and college official in baseball and soccer throughout New England for over fifty years. He was an active member of St. Peter Parish and served on the Parish Council.
Among Tony’s proud accomplishments were his inductions into the WCSU Athletics Hall of Fame, Henry Abbott Technical High School Hall of Fame, and Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Tony was most proud of his family. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 59 years, Rosellen “Kitch” (Cubeta) Gorman. He is also survived by his loving children, Chuck Gorman (Stacey), Tim Gorman (Julie) and Kelley Howard (Jonathan).
Tony was Pop to his grandchildren, Patrick Gorman, Brian Gorman, Sean Gorman, Kate (Howard) Cox (Danny), Bridget Gorman, Brooke Howard, and Emily Gorman.
He leaves behind his siblings Robert Gorman, Mary Kwas, Richard Gorman, and Joan Vincent.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, between the hours of 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Danbury with a committal service immediately following at St. Mary Cemetery in Bethel.
