Betty Ann was born on August 19, 1929 in Danbury, daughter of the late Anna and John Zaleta. She was a lifelong Danbury resident and lived her life to the fullest travelling the world with her late husband Kurt Sittig. An avid sports fan who played golf and tennis into her 80’s, Betty Ann never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved Boston Red Sox and UCONN Huskies.
Betty Ann is survived by her five children: Deborah Shanley Benzaia (Ben), Richard Shanley (Maureen), Nancy Shanley Cole, Patricia Shanley MacKay (Paul), and Robert Shanley. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty Ann was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Shanley.
There will be an interment at Saint Peter’s Cemetery followed by a liturgy at Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church this summer. There will be no calling hours.
