A lifelong resident of Danbury, Barbara was born to Carroll and Anne Austin on February 5, 1928. She graduated from Danbury High School, Green Mountain Junior College, and what is now known as Western Connecticut State University.
Barbara taught elementary school in Danbury for several decades and upon her formal retirement, continued to serve as a substitute teacher. She loved music, children, and her extended family.
She is survived by her son, Geoffrey, and daughter-in-law Donna, of Naples, FL, daughter Nancy, of Burbank, CA, and grandson, Matthew of Vero Beach, FL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Central Christian Church, 71 West St., Danbury.
Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Ave., Danbury.
