Art was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph J. Casey and Anna Coulter Casey, and was raised in Sugar Notch, Pennsylvania.
He served in the United States military from 1953 to 1955 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was also a member of the Army Honor Guard.
Art moved to New York City and was employed by the IBM Corporation in 1958. There he met and married Patricia Kathryn Casey in 1962. He retired from IBM in 1996, after which he worked for a period of time at the Richter Park golf course in Danbury, CT.
Art and Pat moved to New Fairfield, CT in 1976, where they lived for forty years. They recently moved upstate in western NY. While in New Fairfield Art was a former member of the Lions Club. He also was involved with youth sports and was a former member of the New Fairfield Booster Club.
Art was a sports enthusiast and loved the game of golf. He enjoyed refereeing high school lacrosse games for several years in the Danbury area. Most especially, he loved his God, his family and his country.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; his brother, Joseph Casey of Maryland; his sons, Christopher Casey and wife, Hope of New York; Mark Casey and wife, Kristina of Georgia; and his grandchildren, Lauren and Jordan of New York; and Gavin, Corinne, Quinn and Christian of Georgia. He is also survived by one niece and three nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, Brush Hill Drive, New Fairfield, CT at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 17,2017. Interment will immediately follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Rt. 37 in New Fairfield.
Friends will be received from 7pm-9 pm on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, CT.
