Mrs. Evans is remembered as a kind and loving woman, who was fiercely independent, loved music, movies, the theater, and was very artistic. One of her greatest pleasures was attending the rodeo each year and seeing the horses and cowboys. She grew up with horses and loved them all her life. Most of all Mrs. Evans was a loving mother and grandmother. She was blessed to have lived a full life and the legacy of her devotion to her family will always be evident through their faith and accomplishments.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her four daughters, Marcia Evans Close and husband George of McLean, VA, Libby Evans Hyland and husband George of Flower Mound, TX, Alice Evans Jordan and husband Jim of Plano, TX, Cindy Evans Nelson and husband Parker of Dallas, TX; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Close Thibodeau and husband Tony, Patrick Maguire Close, Natalie Hyland Higgins and husband Mike, Rachel Elizabeth Hyland, George Daniel Hyland, 1st Lt. James Matthew Jordan and wife Michelle, Ross Evans Jordan, Brooke McCann Jordan; four great-grandchildren, Addison Rose Thibodeau, Amber Nicole Higgins, Andrew Cole Higgins, and Jacob Michael Jordan, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home Chapel, following a private graveside service. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 12 at the funeral home. A reception lunch will follow the memorial service.
