Yvonne Davenport was born in Mobile, AL on January 8, 1929, the youngest child of parents Lesta Linder Davenport and Berthold Davenport. Yvonne grew up in Alice, TX and attended William Adams High School where she played flute in the band and skipped a grade to graduate early. Yvonne attended TEXAS WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY in Denton, TX.
At a dance one night, she met a sailor home from the Navy, named Lloyd Allen “Bud” Doty Jr. and they married in 1948. They had one daughter, Dinah. During Bud’s career with MOBIL OIL, they lived in Alice, Midland and Houston, TX; Littleton, CO; and from there retired to Hideaway Lake, TX. Yvonne worked as a legal secretary and served as the editor of publications everywhere they lived. She loved reading, plants, travel, and square dancing; she was an active member of the Presbyterian Church (and later the Methodist Church); and Daughters of the American Revolution. Yvonne devoted her spare time to her love of history and genealogy. She was officially recognized as a genealogical resource for the Mormon Church.
After Bud’s death, Yvonne moved to Uptown Dallas near Dinah, and then spent her final years at Belmont Village Turtle Creek just a few blocks away. Yvonne suffered from dementia and passed away at age 94 on December 5, 2023 with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. The Doty family plot is at Grove Hill in Dallas.
