Vicky was one of a kind, full of life with a heart full of joy. She was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina on VJ day which is why her parents named her Victoria “Victory” Jean. She grew up independent, strong, and adventurous all of the world as an “Air Force brat” with her parents Lt. Colonel Robert Brown and Cynthia Brown. She was the eldest of her siblings with her sister’s Markell, Cindi and brother Scott all to follow just a year apart from one another. They lived many places including Germany, Venezuela, and after her father’s retirement spending her teenage years in San Antonio.
She went to the Dougherty School of Nursing in Corpus Christi, Texas and soon after graduating was told by a friend that there was many eligible bachelors and jobs in Alaska. So with that, she packed up her car with just the essentials a little cash and headed to Anchorage. It’s there where she met her husband Paul and the future father of her precious daughters, Nikki, Tamara, and Alexi. After several moves around the US they planted back in San Antonio to be near her parents.
Vicky was one of the most generous and beautiful people you would ever meet. Her generosity was evident to her whole community. She would bring baby gifts to waiters around town, deliver little cheering up gifts to a friend who didn’t win a prize at bunco, and donated to many charities including the Veteran’s society, DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), Rockin’ Robotics, and the Maua Methodist hospital in Kenya along with countless others.
Her grace was evident in how she inwardly battled three bouts of cancer and diabetes but outwardly shared God’s joy and peace. She was the kind of person that could brighten your day with just her smile or kind word. She was a proud Mother and Grammy who could be spotted around town taking grandchildren to and from activities and was always ready to share a story about her beautiful daughters and her talented grandchildren.
Her devotion to her family encouraged her to make the move to Rockwall following her retirement of over 30 years as a compassionate and caring nurse in San Antonio in 2010 to be near her daughters and seven grandchildren. While in Rockwall she became active in her neighborhood church Daystar Baptist and formed close relationships with many of the members.
Vicky’s remaining years were full of laughter, love, vacations and family fun. She never ceased to amaze those around her with her bubbly, optimistic, and God-loving personality.
On Thursday, August 11, 2016, at age 70, Vicky Parker was called Home. She passed peacefully in Plano, surrounded by family. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents.
Her life and legacy will be remembered and celebrated by her daughters: Nicole and her husband Don, Tamara and her husband Kevin, Alexi and her husband Chase and adopted daughter, Marie; her grandchildren: Dylan, Rilee, Triniti, Averleigh, Marqelle, Victoria, Amelia, Carter, Mackenzie and Emma; her siblings: Markell Rowe, Cindy Leech and her husband Bill, Scott Brown and his wife Melanie; her fur-babies Max and Maisy and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many close friends.
This was our mother, our grandmother, aunt, our friend, and she will be missed, admired, and always loved, but never forgotten. ‘Till we see her again….
