Valeriano and Dora Herrera married December 22, 1957, in Laredo, Texas. In their 66 years together, their family came to include their three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. His greatest accomplishment was seeing his three children and three grandchildren receive their college degrees. He was a devout Catholic and believer in God. He treasured a trip that he and Dora took to Egypt to see biblical history. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Dumas, TX.
Valeriano was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War from 1950 until 1953 ,achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a tireless worker, at times working three jobs to provide for his family and grandchildren. He was a jack-of-all-trades and well respected for his honesty and work ethic. Notably, he worked for American Zinc from 1963 until 1970, Lewis Plumbing and Heating from 1970 until 1990 and Colorado Interstate Gas from 1975 until 1995.
His generosity, love and compassion for others will be missed. He is survived by his wife Dora Esther Reyna, daughter Arva Marie Chamberlain (David) of Austin, sons Vale (Stephanie) of McKinney and Aaron (Krista) of Edmond, OK, and brother Ruperto ‘Lalo’ Reyna of Mesa, AZ
Services will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on December 16, 2022, in McKinney, TX. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:20 am, Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with a reception to follow.
