He was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, on September 3, 1929, to Carmen Valentin and Teodosio Mejia.
Mr. Mejia graduated from The Ponce High School and attended the University of Puerto. He served in The United States Army and was married for 41 years to his high school sweetheart, Lucy Lafontaine.
Mr. Mejia had a love of airplanes and flying and worked for Eastern Airlines for 51 years.
He loved his family dearly and had a life-long passion for the opera. He loved singing, cooking, cabinet making, boating and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy, his son Alan and his sisters Haydee, Clara, Hilda, Velma, Mercedes, Eva, Margot, Blanca and Celeste and his brother Manuel.
He is survived by his daughters: Aileen Pratt and Lizette Mejia; son-in-law Jack Pratt, Sr.; his grandchildren: Michael Mejia, Michael Pratt and Caroline Pratt; his great-grandchildren: Ethan Mejia and Kylee Mejia; his brother Servando Mejia, sister-in-law Chicola Mejia and his sister Carmen Mejia.
He was the gentlest and kindest of souls and will be forever missed by his loved ones.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, 75225, on Thursday, May 23rd at 1:00pm. Msgr Donald Zimmerman officiating.
