Shirley "Mom" Bowers was born in Paris, Texas, to Carey and Mae Tucker on September 3, 1949. She grew up in Dallas with her two brothers, Carey, Jr. and Byron and three sisters, Gwendolyn, Karen and Altrina. She attended J. N. Ervin School, class of 1965, where he developed lifelong friendships and an appreciation for caregiving. Her childhood was an idyllic time in her life, which she recalled fondly.
Shirley was retired from her life’s work in healthcare in Dallas. She was a natural with patients and many families have expressed their fond memories of her and her care to their family members. It was routine for her to enjoy spending time at home playing on her computer and phone and having visits from the family. While she was a dainty city girl, she also loved spending time with her cousins camping at the lake.
As a woman of faith, Shirley wished to have a celebration of the immortality promised to all by Christ. She would love to be remembered with funny, caring, or sharing silly stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in her life.
