Sharon had an amazing memory that allowed her to care for patients and master clinical medicine with deceptive ease. As a physician, she navigated a male-dominated profession, ultimately taking on roles at UT Southwestern as Clinical Chief of Cardiology and later Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and Faculty Development in the Department of Internal Medicine. She worked in Dallas for 24 years and remained in her position until the end of her life, empowering women in medicine and helping junior colleagues advance in academic rank. Beyond work, you could find her deep in a pile of books of all genres, following the Northwestern Women’s field hockey and lacrosse teams, strolling in the Arboretum, or enjoying conversations over coffee or a Sonic diet cherry limeade.
Her investment in the lives of those around her was unparalleled and she quickly became a trusted confidante. She is sorely missed by her family, friends, colleagues, mentees, and patients.
Sharon is survived by her husband Andreas and her children Nicholas (Jillian) and Kimberly (Adrian); her mother Barbara; her brother James (Lesa).
A Memorial Service will be open to all on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at Sparkman Hillcrest from 6-8 pm. Family will share their memories of her and hope that some friends, colleagues, and patients will also speak of their remembrances at this time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a fund being set up at UT Southwestern Department of Internal Medicine in honor of Dr. Sharon Reimold.
