Jennifer Lee Dethloff (Scarlett Levander) entered this world with a flare. The Second child of Gayle Thomas and Theresa Michaele (Saint Sing) Dethloff (Germantown, TN), she was born January 3,1984 in Jackson, MS.
Jennifer and her family moved to Ocean Springs, MS in 1988. Her childhood included living life on the water and enjoying fishing, boating, and island hopping. She participated in sports, dance, and cheerleading during her school years. After graduating from Ocean Springs High School (2002), she attended MS State where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with bachelor’s degrees in International Business Marketing and French in 2008. She served as President of the Ambassadors for the College of Business, Vice President of Public Relations for the International Business Club, and was a member of the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. While attending MS State, she spent a summer at Universite of Laval in Quebec, Canada studying French; was chosen to go to Korea as an ambassador for MS State and attended University in Seoul Korea; and also interned in New York with a fashion company.
After college, Jennifer took accounting classes at University of Memphis and worked with her parents in her father’s CPA practice. Her journey took her back to New York City, and then to Dallas, TX. While living in New York City, she represented New York City in the Mrs. New York Pageant. Her platform was Anti-bullying, a cause she continued to support. While in New York City, she worked for an International Brokerage Firm assisting one of top traders on the stock exchange. In Dallas, Jennifer (Scarlett) was an entrepreneur developing her own company for art and teaching French. She was also a Rover representative using her love of animals to care for other people’s pets. Her clients called her the “Cat Whisperer.” Animal causes including the Humane Society in Dallas was another of her continuing causes.
Always one to try to complete her bucket list, she traveled to Paris, went back to Quebec, went on a cruise, went skydiving, traveled all over the United States, wrote and published a book, and followed her passion for art, music, and French. An artist at heart, Scarlett lived life to the fullest enjoying her art, music, family and friends. She traveled the world, but the South was her home, and the beach and water filled her soul.
Survived by her parents, her sister Angela (Clint) Walker (Ocean Springs, MS), her nieces and nephew – Rebecca, Ryan and Rachel Walker; her grandparents Bill and Lorraine Saint Sing (Vancleave, MS); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her fur babies – Dolce, Pucci and Burberry.
Waiting for her in heaven are her grandparents, Gomez and Esther Pettis Dethloff; her uncle Ron Cubitt; and her Aunt Cherie Pohlmann.
The Dethloff family is planning a Celebration of Life at a future date.
