Mrs. Ruby Johnson was born in Karnack, Texas to the parents of Rev. George Scott Sr. and Mrs. Lottie Wright Scott. She was educated in the public schools of Karnack. Ruby accepted Christ as a young person and served faithfully at James Chapel Baptist Church. After completing school she moved to Dayton, Ohio living there for 20 years. She lived out her faith in Dayton serving in a local church. When Ruby left Ohio her intention was to move to California. However on her stop in Dallas she met Albert Johnson who she married on May 15, 1969. Albert and Ruby loved traveling together, serving their neighbors and entertaining others in their home. Their home was a hub of hospitality for college students, preachers and others. The Johnsons created their own scholarships for young people desiring a college education. Ruby united with the Mt. Carmel Church and then when Concord Baptist Church was started by Dr. E.K. Bailey, Ruby was one of the Charter Members. She served faithfully as an usher in both churches. For many years Ruby hosted the VIP Fashion Show in her own backyard. Ruby worked in the church kitchen serving funerals and special events. She loved the Concord Senior Center and you could find her there encouraging others and playing spades. Mrs. Johnson was employed by Texas Instruments and Dallas Independent School District. Preceding her in death are her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Ruby leaves mourn her passing her loving husband, Albert Johnson, one brother, Daniel Scott, and a host of nieces and nephews as well as four Godchildren.
