Rose Marie Mentesana, 93, passed from this world on Saturday, the 14th of January, 2024, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Rose Marie was born in Houston on the 16th of March,1930, to Sam and Rose "Bessie" Petronella Listi.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, James "Jimmy" Mentesana; and her son in law, John Sullivan.
Rose Marie is survived by her daughters, Sara Koonce, and her husband Roy, and Frances Sullivan. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and their spouses, Dena & Chris Shirley, Jimmy & Carrie Koonce, Kristin & Matt Kowalski, Lauren & Andrew Dorman, and McKenzie & Jake Paquette; as well as her ten great-grandchildren, Cooper Mitchell, Maci Mitchell, Carson Shirley, Emmitt Koonce, Riley Koonce, Emmy Koonce, Michael Kowalski, Johnny Kowalski, Landon Dorman, and Owen Paquette.
Rose Marie volunteered her time to support the Catholic Daughters and served as a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, attending a weekly prayer group with close friends. Rose Marie's life was one of devout prayer and love for her family. She had an unwavering devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and influenced all of our lives spiritually.
The family wishes to extend a note of thanks to her compassionate caregivers at New Hope Care Center in McAlester, OK, who took great care of her during the last stages of her life.
Friends are cordially invited to celebrate Rose Marie on Monday, January 22nd, at Calvary Hill Lombardy Lane in Dallas. Visitation with the family and rosary will begin at 11am, with mass of Christian Burial and family eulogies follow at 12pm.
Honored to serve as pallbearers during Monday's services are Frank Ventura, Jimmy Labarba, Sam Listi, Charles Mentesana, Jimmy Koonce, Emmitt Koonce, Cooper Mitchell, and Michael Kowalski.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in her name be directed to the Franciscan Brothers of Peace, 1289 Lafond Ave, Saint Paul, MN 55104. Brother Pascal is a member of their brotherhood, he is the son of Sam and Karen Listi, mom's nephew.
