Roderic "Rod" McCarley Bell, Jr., 79, of Dallas, TX passed away January 11, 2024 at home peacefully in his sleep. He was born June 23, 1944 to Roderic M. Bell, Sr. and Frances Bullard in Manchester, CT.
After graduating from University of Texas, he worked with many construction firms until starting his own home repair business. In 1963, he joined the Navy and served as an E-3 Electrician until 1969. Rod served on the USS Enterprise, the US Navy’s first nuclear powered aircraft carrier. Rod married the love of his life, Stacy Hoover-Bell, on September 16, 1989 in Dallas. He was a Master Electrician for 30+ years, and after entering retirement, he became Rod Bell Lamp Guy where he designed and repaired light fixtures. Rod was a member of the American Philatelic Society. He enjoyed science-fiction books, collecting stamps, antiquing, growing Japanese Maples, and watching sports – especially all Dallas teams and the Texas Longhorns.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Stacy Hoover-Bell of Dallas; daughter, Patti Neal (Guy) of Dallas; granddaughter, Chloe Neal of Dallas; niece, Brianne Burford (Jordan) of Hatfield, AR; nephews, Coy Burford of Hatfield, AR and Dustin Sexauer of Bella Vista, AR. He also leaves behind his brother, Jerry Bell of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Letha Moore of Fayetteville, AR; brother-in-law, Brandon Burford (Christina) of Hatfield, AR; and mother-in-law, Joyce Hoover of Mena, AR.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
