Robert Paul Mayer, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2021 at home in Dallas, Texas surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Michigan City, Indiana on January 7, 1931. A short time later, his family relocated to Oak Park, Illinois. He played football in high school with lifelong friends Jack Rodgers and Charlie Hoag. After graduation, all three went to Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas on a full ride football scholarship. After graduation, Bob served stateside in the United States Air Force as a 1st Lieutenant training and overseeing flight controllers for the fighters. He was honorably discharged and started his career with Kaiser Aluminum where he was regional manager for several territories. In 1972, he and longtime friend, Jim Sime, founded Dallas Industries which became a very successful sales company with a multi-face force and wonderful office team. He was a float lieutenant for the Krewe of Bacchus in New Orleans Mardi Gras from 1993 for more than 20 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years Carol Mayer; daughters Pam Bever (Mark); Kelli Mirus (Freddie); son Mike Mayer (Sheila). Three grandsons; Bobby Bever, Dr. Carl Mirus, Kyle Mirus. Five granddaughters; Katy Mayer, Karissa Mirus, Lindsey Bever, Chloe Smithson, Kat Mirus. Five great grandchildren.
A memorial will be held January 7, 2022 at 2pm at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Turnpike Dallas, Texas 75252.
