Robert J Finegan, 79, of Dallas passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at a local Dallas hospital surrounded by loved ones. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Bob loved people from all walks of life, and never met a stranger. Relationships mattered most to him. He enjoyed golf, cards, travel, hunting, holidays, and any opportunity to be with family and friends. He had an incredible faith, patriotic spirit, and zest for life. Bob’s laugh would fill up a room. His love, character, joy, and spirit will be written on our hearts forever. Bob was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Salesmanship Club of Dallas, Park City Club, Northwood Club, and Garden of the Gods Club in Colorado Springs. He served as a trustee of the University of Dallas for 18 years, was selected to the Order of the Knights of Malta, and was a former member of the City Club.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 15, 1937. He was the third of the four children born to James Joseph Finegan and Marie Livingston Finegan. The family moved to Dallas in 1939, where Bob has resided since. Bob Finegan attended Holy Trinity Catholic School, Christ the King Catholic School, and Jesuit College Preparatory School. He attended Loyola University in New Orleans for one year, and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1960. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Following graduation he served this great country he loved as the Company Commander of Executive 546 of the Military Police Department at the age of 23. After his three years of service, Bob began his professional career as an accountant for Price Waterhouse, and then found his passion for investments. At the time of his death, Bob was the Sr. Vice President/Investments for Stifel, where he had been employed since April 1, 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Case Finegan; his son, Steven Craig Finegan and wife, Robin Grider; his daughter, Janice Finegan Hughes and husband, Christopher J. Hughes along with grandchildren Meredith, Natalie, and Ryan Hughes; stepson, William Rogers along with granddaughter, Sarah Rogers; and stepdaughter, Ann Rogers Franks and her husband, Robert Franks, along with grandchildren Derek and Austin Franks; brother, James Finegan and his wife, Kathy; brother, William Finegan and his wife, Sue; sister, Ann Lindley; and many loving nieces and nephews – James, Jane (deceased), John, Joe, Alice, Doug, Steve, Diane and Nancy Finegan and Robert, Mike, Rick and Mark Lindley, and their families.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 9017 Preston Road, Dallas, TX 75225. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and the funeral vigil service will be held from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12 at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Momentous Institute or the James J. Finegan Scholarship Fund at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.
