Bob was born on June 28, 1937 in El Paso, TX. Bob attended high school and college in El Paso, and later graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. While in college, he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. At one of the fraternity parties, he met his lifelong love, Bertha Nell Rose (Bertie), and they were married for the next 60 years.
Dr. Duchouquette, who was known by his patients as Dr. D., was fortunate to find his true calling in life by practicing medicine for several decades. While practicing medicine, Bob provided comfort to those he knew.
After retirement, Bob was an active member and director of the Texas Poetry Society, and wrote and published a poetry book titled “Accidental? Physician Poet”. He also continued to volunteer medically through the church to help others in foreign countries. Bob led an active Christian life and enjoyed a variety of interests which he shared with family and friends including playing tennis, fishing, writing poetry, and traveling.
Bob is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Bertie Duchouquette and their two sons, Robert Duchouquette, Jr. and his wife Michelle, and Brian Duchouquette and his wife Tracy. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren whom he adored, Rebecca Ann Duchouquette, Daniel Paul Duchouquette, and Jacob Evan Duchouquette. He is also survived by two brothers, David Duchouquette (Barbara) and Carl Duchouquette (Jeannine), both of El Paso. Bob was preceded in death by his dad, Henry Joseph Duchouquette, and mom Imogene Carlton Duchouquette. Bob was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Clifton Duchouquette and Donald Duchouquette, as well as his dear sister, Nancy Ann Robertson.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm on April 13, 2023 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. on April 14, 2023, also at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home.
Bob leaves behind an extraordinary legacy and will be greatly missed.
