Robert Earl Briggs, age 77, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 in Fate, Texas. He was born June 5, 1944 in Point, Texas to Thurman J. Briggs and Leona Pearl Spencer Briggs. Robert was raised in Point, Texas and graduated from Rains High School in 1963. He served two years in the Vietnam War as a Marine and later married Patricia Ann Thompson in 1965 and the couple had two children. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Robert became a fireman. He left the fire department after fracturing his legs during a structure fire when the ceiling collapsed. Robert then worked in the printing industry for the next 35 years.
In his spare time Robert enjoyed spending time with his entire family. In earlier years, he especially liked to go fishing and work on cars with his son. His most recent years were spent spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family and friends will always remember that Robert adored his wife of 49 years. He was a devoted father to his two children and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew they could always depend on their Papa. Robert made sure his family wanted for nothing, he was the type of man to help others, regardless of the circumstances.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Leona Briggs; wife, Patricia Briggs; son, Robert Earl Briggs, Jr.; brothers, Raymond Briggs, Earl Briggs, Ervin Briggs, Buddy Briggs, Ray Briggs, James Harold Briggs and Oval Briggs and sisters, Bobbie Dodson and Peggy Clem. Left to cherish his memory are daughter, Alisha Hardman; grandchildren, Nicole Hardman, Sean Hardman and Dakota Guevara and fiancé, Adrien Higginbotham; great-grandchildren, Eli Hardman, Kaylee Hardman and Lilah Higginbotham; sisters, Maxine Sherwood and Margie Shinpaugh; sister-in-laws, Linda Thompson and Nina Thompson and a host of numerous relatives and dear friends.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228 with a committal to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
