Lois accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, she serviced at Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Ashford Al. during her early years, later moving her membership to St Joseph Baptist Church in the community of Pansey AL. where her children were Baptist members along with her parents. And during this time, she also served as the President of the St Mary Association of the Women District.
Lois was a rare and beautiful soul adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She answered to many names: Richie Lois, Lois, T Model to her Dad, Mrs. J to most, Mom, and Granny. She became disabled and retired from the Alabama School Support personnel after 24 years. After retirement she move to Texas an became and active member and volunteer of the Evan Senior Center in Mesquite. Where she did a lot of community service and volunteered on varies projects eg: she crochet 100’s of caps for Soldiers and passed them out at the airport as they were being deployed.
On Friday December 19,2020, Lois departed this life, she was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lucille Calhoun, Husband Willie Frank Jackson, two sisters, and one brother: Dorothy Jean Logan, Inez Hardrick, Gene Otis Calhoun.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughter and two Sons; Frankie Culberson of Mesquite TX, Augustine Hunter of Ashford Al, Richard Jackson (Alice) of Dothan AL, Willie Jackson of Mesquite TX, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; Two sisters: Sarah Bullard of San Antonio TX , Henrietta Smith of Dothan AL, Two Brothers: Jerome Calhoun (Emma) of Tuscaloosa AL, Roy Calhoun (Arie) of Radcliff, KY. One sister-in-law: Betty Calhoun of Montgomery AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
