Richard James Baker was born on November 5, 1931 in Dallas Texas. He went to be with his heavenly father on February 27, 2013. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Elizabeth Vaughan Baker; his daughter Madelyne Mundell and husband Brian and daughter Sarah Baker and was blessed with 3 grandchildren Courtney, Patrick and Alexis Mundell. Richard is also survived by his brother William Baker and wife Mary; brother in law Dan Vaughan and wife Julie; sister in law Jeannette Milstead; sister in law Celesta Vaughan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard attended High School at Crozier Tech Dallas and graduated from Texas A&M where he was a member of the Air Force Cadets. After graduation went on to serve 2 years in the Air Force. After leaving the Air Force he returned to Dallas where he married Elizabeth and began his 39 year career with Enserch Processing Inc.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dallas where he taught Sunday School for many years.
He loved to travel, especially long road trips stopping to explore every museum and historic site along the way. Entertaining his daughters with his silly songs and signature sayings like “rise and shine” are just a glimpse into his happy nature and how he lived his life.
He was a wonderful grandfather taking a keen interest in his grandchildren’s activities and creating special memories with each of them. He and Elizabeth took many road trips to attend sporting events, birthday parties & special occasions not letting distance come between them.
Richard lived his life to the end centered on Family Friends and Faith.
