Ramon was raised in San Antonio’s west side.
He married Linda Salazar in 1954 and the couple had five children. He was a senior auto parts assembler at AER Manufacturing where he worked for more than 35 years. In his spare time Ramon enjoyed spending time with his family, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, traveling, watching old western John Wayne movies and watching novelas with his wife.
His family and friends will always remember him as a person with a genuine heart, hardworking, caring, giving, genuinely affectionate, sentimental, and driven. He was someone to look up to, follow, admire, to be proud of, to brag about, to hold, and to cry with, to learn from, to respect, to listen to, to talk to, to try to impress, sometimes to rebel against, and most of all, someone with whom to share everything this wonderful life has to offer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Cristina Martinez; sisters, Dolores (Lola) Nava, and Angelita (Angie) Flores; brother, Robert (Cosme) Martinez; Daughter, Sylvia Ann Salazar; great-grandson, Xavier Trevino; and great-granddaughter, Pieper Adelaide Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Martinez; sons and their wives, Raymond and Kathryn Martinez, Richard and Barbara Martinez, and Roger and Theresa Martinez; his daughter Linda Christine Martinez; along with 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Without a formal education, Ramon set the foundation and framework for all his children to succeed.
Although our lives’ journeys have led us to be apart, I am with you, you are with me, always in our hearts.
