Paula Nell White, 79, passed away on June 12, 2016, after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 4, 1936, to Forest and Olive Phillips, in Clarksville, Texas. She was the eldest of three children and the family moved to Dallas when she was young.
Paula worked for the First National Bank of Dallas through several mergers for 40 years. She loved to travel, especially to Utah and Arizona. As grandchildren arrived, she thoroughly enjoyed traveling to go see them. She grew cactus as a hobby and also served as a judge at several cactus shows. She was an excellent seamstress and could make anything out of any fabric. Before her retirement from the bank, she discovered an old quilt at her mother’s home and that began a new hobby, quilting. Paula made numerous quilts, raggedy quilts, and wall hangings for family and friends, winning several ribbons for her creations. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and candy making. Every year, she would make several different kinds of candy to give as gifts to family and friends at Christmas, her favorite holiday.
On Sunday, June 12, 2016, Paula White was called Home. She was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Forest and Olive Phillips; her brother Eddie Phillips and his wife, her sister-in-law, Gloria Phillips; her brother Johnnie Phillips; her former husband and friend, John W. White; and her dear friends, Sharon Tippit and Barbara Bose.
Paula's life will continue to be remembered and honored by her daughter, Brenda Grau and her husband Gerald of Lafayette, LA; her son, John W. White, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Weston, CT; grandchildren Valerie Grau of Lafayette, LA; Trevor Grau and his wife Stacy of Katy, TX; Harry White and Sam White of New York, NY; Morgan White and Charles White of Weston, CT; and great-grandchildren Keegan Grau, Addison Grau, and Kylee Grau of Katy, TX. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Phillips, as well as several cousins.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Golden Acres and VNA Hospice for their care of our mother during her final illness.
Our mother did not care for dull colors, so the family requests that those attending the services kindly wear purple or red, Mom's favorite colors, or any other bright colors.
