Paul Adams Rush, 55, completed his journey to Heaven on May 13th after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family. Paul, an identical twin, was born in Dallas to Peter and Donna Rush on July 31, 1959. Paul was an outstanding student and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1978. He also was a proud Eagle Scout of Troop 70. Paul continued his studies at Trinity University and joined Chi Delta Fraternity where he made lifelong friends. In 1982, Paul served as President of the Student Body and delivered the Student Commencement address. Later in life while incarcerated, Paul was drawn to what became his favorite Bible verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ. He chose to let this verse and God’s will define the rest of his life. Paul led numerous men to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. Paul had finally discovered God’s true purpose for his life. He continued to witness and encourage others in their faith until the day he died. Our family would like to thank Paul’s doctors, caregivers and Amity Hospice for their incredible support. In particular we would like to thank Mary and the Reverend Lyle Dorsett, Ron and Katie Brigmon, and Father Harry Hill for helping Paul in his spiritual journey. Paul also wanted to thank his coworkers at MDPM Consulting and his Cancer Support Group at COTI. Paul was preceded in death by his dad, Peter Adams Rush. He is survived by his children Peter Charles Rush and Ellen Rhett Rush, mother Donna Klingman Rush, sister Dr. Marjorie Rush Milici, brother Parker W. Rush, Goddaughter Kate Horak Miller and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue at 11:00am on Tuesday May 19th in the Memorial Chapel. Memorials may be made in Paul’s memory to Ron Brigmon Ministries, P.O. Box 141126, Austin, Texas 78714 or to a charity of your choice.
