On June 25, 2019, Patrick Henry Booth, devoted husband, loving father, beloved grandfather, uncle, and friend, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ. Pat was a fourth-generation Dallasite, and loved this city.
Pat was born on June 14, 1938, in Dallas, Texas. He attended St. Mark’s, Highland Park, and Texas Tech University. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity. After Texas Tech, he went to work for his grandfather, who owned Zero Plate Company, a commercial manufacturing refrigerator company. Pat enjoyed his work in the family business, and received several patents related to refrigeration. Later Pat co-founded Neighborhood Co-op Patrol, and then enjoyed entrepreneurial pursuits in financial services, real estate, and oil & gas.
Pat’s greatest passion was the Lord Jesus Christ, and the advancement of His kingdom. In 1972, Pat had the privilege of being an instrumental part of Explo ’72 in Dallas - “The Great Jesus Rally”. Time Magazine described Explo ’72 as “a time God stepped in and turned a remnant of young people to Him, and ignited a generation to serve Him around the world.” Eighty-thousand people attended the event.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Pat was struck by his zest for life, joy, and exuberant being. Pat had the gift of evangelism. As the Spirit often led him, his greatest joy was sharing the love of Jesus. Pat was a living example of Jesus’ words to His disciples, “Come and follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matt. 4:19). Pat Booth’s life was legendary in Christendom, and his legacy will continue for generations to come.
Patrick is survived by his devoted bride of 57 years, Amy Smith Booth; his two daughters, Amity Blair Booth Gillespie (husband Keith) and Amberly Adele Booth White (husband DuBoise); and his grandchildren, Ashton Noël Gillespie, Graham Patrick Gillespie, DuBoise Sumner White, and Jamison Henry White. He is also survived by his beloved nephews Barry Darren Blanton (wife Julie), and Brett Henry Blanton (wife Cheryl), and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents Adele Henry Booth, James Randolph Booth; and by his sister Diane Booth Sanders.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019, 11:00 AM at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas.
His 4-year old grandson said it best, “Pat is The King of Happy.”
