Pat Tinsman Smith went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2022 in Dallas, TX. Pat was born on December 2, 1932, in Arlington, VA to Henry Lee Tinsman and Ruth Fanning Tinsman. She was their only child. Pat graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington and attended Washington Bible Institute (now college) in Washington, DC. The day after her fiancé, Jimmy Lee Smith, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, they were married at Cherryvale Baptist Church in Arlington, VA on June 7, 1952. This began a 20-year period of Air Force life during which they moved 17 times. Pat enjoyed the travel and opportunity to live in England and France. Their four daughters were born during these years, beginning with twins, Geneva and Grace who were born in Bryan, TX, then Carol who was born in England, and finally Cindy who was born at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The next phase of the Smith family life took them to Dallas, TX where Jim attended Dallas Theological Seminary. Upon graduation in 1976 Pat served beside him in churches in Texas, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, and Colorado. Pat and Jim then retired in Dallas, TX. The verse Proverbs 12:4a best describes Pat. “A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown…”
Pat is survived by her lover, best friend, and husband, Jimmy Lee Smith, her four daughters: Geneva Krag, Grace Ely (and husband, Fred), Carol Cromartie (and husband, Greg), and Cindy Murdock; 12 grandchildren, Erik Krag, Christon Krag Sawatsky, Cindy Ely Maller, Timothy Ely, Cheryl Ely Marthers, Michael Ely, Matthew Cromartie, Laura Cromartie Monteiro, Jonathan Cromartie, Emilie Murdock George, Elise Murdock, and Jacob Murdock; and 18 great grandchildren.
