Norma Jean Ried Menefee was born on October 21, 1926 in Meridan, Mississippi and went to see her Lord on August 8, 2011. She grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, and resided in Wichita Falls, Texas after they were married. For the past 35 years, the lived in Mandeville, Louisiana. Norma attended Lamar University and the University of Texas Medical School at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas and became a Registered Medical Technologist. She was very involved in her church, New Covenant Presbyterian in Mandeville, La. where she encouraged, brought smiles and cheered the hearts of all of her many friends. Norma loved to make Christmas ornaments and other crafts for the annual church bizarre where she was able to display her creative and artistic abilities for all to enjoy. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed sharing her recipes with family and friends. Norma was a compassionate, loving and caring person, described by many as the sweetest Southern Belle that they had ever met. She is survived by her loving, caring husband of 63 years, William F. Menefee, her sons, Mike and Bob, her daughters-in-laws, Sue and Yvette, her grandsons, Michael C. and Brad, her granddaughter, Kara, her sister, Joyce Flowers and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Norma’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Sparkman Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel in Dallas, Texas.
