Nora Anderson was born on June 29, 1923 in Sante Fe, New Mexico to Filipe and Elena Giron Baca. She was one of seven sisters who worked the farm during the Great Depression and lost her mom during early childhood due to childbirth complications. Raised by a strict father, each of the girls learned to depend on each other to survive. She met her future husband, Andy, through the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in New Mexico. The Texas native, Andy, fell in love with the dark beauty in New Mexico and waited till after he served his term in the Air Force in World War II to marry her. Nora was a devout “Roman Catholic” and loved her church. She was a devoted prayer warrior and read her prayer book daily. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for approximately 43 years.
Nora loved her birds and always provided a bird feeder and bird bath. She loved flowers and often said she was not happy unless she had dirt underneath her fingernails, and she loved clouds. She always remarked when the fluffy clouds paraded themselves across the blue sky. She was a lover of nature and the outdoors.
Nora was well known to all who were around for her singing and dancing. It would not be beyond her to start singing out loud anywhere, a restaurant, a doctor’s office, etc . . . As for finding dance partners, she always had a line of them waiting to swing her around. Nora will be most remembered for her ability to laugh at herself, to kick up her agile leg straight up in the air and shout, “Ye hiiii!”
On Saturday, August 13, 2016 Nora was called Home at the age of 93! She was greeted in heaven by her husband of 53 years, Earl Y. Anderson and her oldest daughter, Mary Ann Bartlett.
Her life and legacy will continue to be remembered and celebrated by her sisters, Rose Landin and Mary Baca; her children David Anderson (Sue) and Dolores Hardin (Alan); and her grandchildren, Laura Moore, Michael Hardin, Jeremy Bartlett, Shanti Anderson, Sierra Jade Anderson and nine great grandchildren.
"Be kind, be helpful to people that need food, clothing. Pray for the sick; help the needy; help the poor; help the sick" ~ Nora Anderson
