Nancy Hunter Gilmore

A second-generation Dallas native, Nancy was born on May 16, 1925, and went to her heavenly home on August 24, 2022. She was a January 1942 graduate of North Dallas High School and attended North Texas State College.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd M. Gilmore. Their 60-year marriage was her greatest joy and filled with love and devotion for each other and their family. There was always an extra plate that could be added for anyone their daughters wanted to bring. Their friends were always welcome and no one ever had to spend a holiday alone. A dedicated Christian, Nancy was a member of Highland Park Methodist church for 62 years. She and Lloyd were active members in the 2X2 class where they made many friends.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Catherine Gilmore Weigel and husband Dennis, and Carolanne Gilmore; her grandchildren Craig Weigel and wife LeAnn, and Nancy “Annelise” Shelton and husband Gabriel Ward. Great-grandsons Luke Weigel and Grant Weigel were an active part of her life as well.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lloyd; her beloved granddaughter, Laura Weigel; her parents, Halley and Archie Hunter; and her brother, Archie Hunter, Jr.

Nancy’s family wishes to thank her caregivers Kimberly Lewis, Envoy Hospice, Sophia White and Anita Campbell, for their devotion and care of our Mother.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Wilkinson Center, 3402 N. Buckner Blvd., Unit 302, Dallas, 75228, or the animal rescue charity of your choice.
