Nancy McKay Cook went peacefully to meet her husband Kenneth, on what would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary. Nancy and Kenneth were married on July 31, 1948 at Lakewood Country Club in Dallas. She was born on July 29, 1929 in Dallas, the daughter of Henry James & Mary Keeler McKay. She attended William Lipscomb Elementary, J.L. Long Jr. High and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1946. Nancy also attended Texas Christian University. She went to work for Neiman-Marcus at 16 during the summers and holidays in 1945-1946 and full-time from June 1946 to December 1947. Mrs. Cook went on to work for the U.S. Census Bureau beginning in April 1970 and retiring in September 1994. Nancy received the Bronze Medal from the US Department of Commerce in May 1987 for superior federal service. She was a PTA member, Life Member of Texas Congress Parent-Teacher Association, Casa View Pre-School President in 1959, Dallas City Council PTA President 1965-1966, Woodrow Wilson High School President 1967-1968 and J.L. Long Jr. High President 1969-1970. Mrs. Cook is survived by her children Nancy Pendleton, Bill Cook and wife Shirley, Donna Mussotter and husband George and Nina Casey and husband Christopher; grandchildren Melanie Pendleton Cella, Carol Mussotter and husband Galen Stilwell; one great-grandson Alexander John Cella. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 3rd from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be on Thursday, August 4th at 9:00 a.m. in the Northwest Highway Chapel of Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home with burial to follow at DFW National Cemetery.
