A celebration of the life of Michael "Don" Ferguson will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:30am in Ellis Chapel of Park Cities Baptist Church. A reception will follow in the parlor. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, May 17 at Grove Hill Funeral Home from 6-8pm. We will celebrate Don as a loving and caring husband, brother, father, and uncle. In recent years, he doted over his four precious grandchildren.
From a young boy, Don's first priority was his family. He was born with his twin brother, Dean on May 3, 1945 to the late Jim and Dema Ferguson. Later, younger sisters Judy Porter and Jennie Carter joined the family. Don's high school sweetheart shared his family focus with 45 years of marriage. Janet was everything to Don, his rock through all of life’s victories and challenges. His son, Michael, is married to Shanel and they have two boys Tripp (16 mos) and Liam (1 mo). His daughter, Kerri, is married to Byron Johnson with two children, Sadie (5) and Graham (2.5).
Don loved going on walks, riding his bike around White Rock Lake, and watching Texas sports. Don was an SMU football letterman (mid 60’s) who treasured going to games with former teammates. He carried his football passion forward as a coach at Bryan Adams and South Garland high schools. His faith in Jesus began at East Grand Avenue Baptist Church and was evident in his service to others. He loved leading others to success whether as a coach or later as the owner of J&J Roofing. Don's strength as a business man allowed him to serve needs in small and large capacities across the community with old fashioned hard work. Michael will carry on the tradition of J&J Roofing Company.
