Meredith "Merrie Ann" King

Meredith Ann (Merrie Ann) King, age 80, passed away on March 4, 2020, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her earthly angels and her loving God. Merrie Ann was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on May 1, 1939, to Meredith (Mert) Lewellen and Barbara Frey Lewellen. She attended Mexia High School and The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Merrie Ann is a Daughter of the American Revolution. She was a member and director of numerous clubs and organizations, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the Dallas Woman’s Club and The Crystal Charity Ball. She was an enthusiastic participant in her book club, her garden club and her investment club.

Family and relationships were central to Merrie Ann’s joyous life. Family gatherings that Merrie Ann planned were boisterous and epic. She loved her many friends and they brought great joy to her life. She touched many lives and never hesitated to welcome anyone into her loving circle. Her warmth was effortless, her courtesy genuine and her faith unflagging.

Merrie Ann was a member of Church of the Incarnation, a lifetime Episcopalian. She studied scripture daily and was a prayer warrior for her friends and family. Most important was her dedication to Community Bible Study as faith was central to everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Frey Lewellen Wilson, by her father Meredith Lewellen and her grand-niece Sara Hudson.

Merrie Ann is survived by her husband of 47 years, Frank King; and by her children and their spouses Frederick Brown III, Frank-Paul King (Eugenia), Cynthia Bequette (Jay), Alice King (Steve Christoffersen), and Meredith Boyd (Stephen); and by her grandchildren and their spouses Emily Chaney (Craig), Jake Bequette, Samuel Bequette (Lexi), Joe Bequette, Lily Davis (Buckley), Michael Christoffersen, Adam Alexander, Jonathan King, Anabel Alexander, Jessica Brown, Anna Christoffersen, Christian King, Frederick Brown IV, Zoe Brown; and by her great-grandchildren Lane, Charlotte, and Madeline Chaney.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to Carmen Bejarano, Mary Ellen Kyle, Ginger Hastings, and Shannon Najar for their loving care and attention to Merrie Ann.

Services will be held at Church of the Incarnation on Tuesday, March 10, at 2:00 pm.
