Mary Elizabeth Strickland was born in Muscogee County of Columbus, Georgia on September 18, 1941. To the parentage of George Washington Dunham and Willie Ela Youngblood. She was number one of three children. She was formally educated in Columbus, Georgia and Dallas, Texas.
Mary worked for Parkland Hospital and later for Dallas County Records Department, until her retirement at age seventy. She was a member and “mother” of Ervay Missionary Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas.
On Sunday, February 12, 2023 Mary Elizabeth passed from this life. Her son, Charles Waiters Junior went on before her October 8 2021.
She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Cheryl Denise Waiters of Desoto, Texas and her two sons, Michael Edward Strickland of Desoto, Texas and Keith Thomas Strickland of Lancaster, Texas. Also mourning are six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, her brother, George, Jr. (Ricky) of Dallas, Tx, her sisters Joyce of Dallas, Tx, Georgia Mae and Queen Elizabeth of Cleveland, Ohio and a Host of other Family and Friends.
