Mary Sorrells-Grady of Waxahachie, TX gained her wings to live amongst the angels in heaven on December 3, 2022, at the age of 81. Mary passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with her loving daughter Joyce Hall.
Mary was born in Kilmichael, Mississippi to Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Hamilton. Mary was independent from a young age and owned her own beauty shop while attending school to further her education. While raising her family, Mary graduated from E and K Home Health Aide training program in February 1988 and Orange Unified School in June 1991. After completing these educational programs Mary went on to provide in-home care, creating lifelong connections with many families across the state of Texas.
Mary was a devoted and dear woman, a rare soul and truly a soldier of God. Every Christian is called to be a soldier in the army of God. “Soldiers are called to counter evil with the overwhelming, overcoming good that flows from a heart in love with God. No matter what situation a Christian soldier is in, they must put faith in their commander and lie by the spirit” and this is a reflection of how Mary lived her life. Mary loved spending time with her family, she loved a good ole church song and a pretty pair of heels to match her outfit. She was an exceptional woman, loving, kind, wise, and simply elegant, she was our black excellence. One of her favorite Bible scriptures was Isaiah 53:5 “By his wounds we are healed”.
Mary is preceded in death by her late husband Charles Sorrells; parents Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Hamilton; mother Nona French; Father Jesse French; kids Father Kline Hall; daughter Felicia Garrett; son Joenathan Hall; Two baby sisters; brothers Joe Lewis and Joe Ed. Hamilton; sisters Ruthie Mae Hamilton and Kay Lindsay.
