Martha Ann Davidson Dickerson passed away on September 8, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Martha Ann was born on March 2, 1925, in Dallas, Texas, the youngest of eight children born to Jesse William Davidson and Louella Keyes Davidson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters, Robert Davidson, Elizabeth Addington, Ruby Ferguson, Erma Brogan, Georgia Cox, T.W. Davidson and Lloyd Davidson. Martha Ann graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy in 1942 as Valedictorian and was the recipient of four Linz Awards. She was awarded four college scholarships as the result of her high school academic achievements. When her older sisters refused to let their elderly mother live with them while she went to college, Martha Ann decided to give up her scholarships to go to work instead so she could support and provide a home for her mother. Martha Ann had a long career as a legal secretary and showroom manager at the Dallas Trade Mart as well as a consultant at a Merle Norman Studio. Martha Ann will always be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, and friend. She was always ready to lend a helping hand or be a comforting shoulder to cry on. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Martha Ann was also known as a great cook – her pralines, peach cobbler, and date nut cake are legendary – and her most favorite times were those when she had her whole family gathered together at her dining room table. Most of all, her family will miss her wisdom; her sound, practical advice; and warm, enveloping hugs. Martha Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Tillman Herbert Dickerson; her caring daughter, Sharon Dickerson of Dallas, Texas; her loving son, Michael Craig Dickerson and his wife Theresa and four beautiful granddaughters, Laura Michelle, Melissa Ann, Suzanne Marie and Christine Elizabeth, all of The Woodlands, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home Friday, September 10, 2010 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, September 11, in the North Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetery with Monsignor Donald Zimmerman as celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Monica School; Endowment Trust, 4140 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75220
