Martha Ella (McGee) Coy

Martha Ella Coy, 88 years old, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023. She was born on June 23, 1934, to George Belton McGee and Martha Ellen Hornickle at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Martha grew up in Dallas and attended T.G. Terry Elementary School and Forest Avenue High School.

Martha met George Louis Coy, the love of her life, and they were married on August 9, 1950. Martha gave birth to two sons, Ricky Louis Coy and Kenneth Allen Coy.

Family was of paramount importance to Martha. She was a great homemaker, a loving mother and a wonderful wife. She was always active in her boys’ schools and in their local church.

With her busy schedule, she still found time to entertain, play bridge, bowl, play golf and go cruising. But her real passion was dancing. Louis and Martha routinely went dancing 3-4 times a week at one honky-tonk or another. Louis always said she was the best and prettiest dancer on the dance floor.

Martha’s greatest joy was making new friends. She made lifelong friends wherever she went. She loved people and could always make others smile. She will certainly be missed by her family and friends.

Martha was predeceased by her brothers George Belton (Mac) McGee Jr. and Thomas Gene (Tom) McGee, and her sister, Mary Helen (Sissy) Chilton. She is survived by her husband and sons and her grandchildren Kristen, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth and Matthew.

The family will hold a visitation for family and friends on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 5 to 7 pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas Texas. Funeral services will be held at Sparkman/Hillcrest on Tuesday, January 10, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org
