Marilyn Campbell, 86, of Tioga, TX went home to be with her Lord and her late husband, Dr. R. C. Campbell Jr., on Monday October 21, 2013. She was born in Jermyn, TX on July 29, 1927 to John Kenneth and Ethel B. McFadyen. She lived a lifetime of stories about the hardships of the Depression era and the death of her father at the age of 12. She graduated from Jacksboro High School at the age of 16 and Texas Wesleyan University at the age of 19. She was an instructor of Business Administration at the college after graduation. She married the love of her life, R. C. Campbell at the age of 20. She served alongside her husband of 57 years in his ministry, first as a pastor’s wife, then as wife of the President of Buckner Baptist Benevolences for 32 years. Buckner honored her in 1989 by naming the administration building of the Buckner Villas in Austin the Marilyn M Campbell Building. Marilyn left this world as she lived, with grace, dignity, gratitude and her great sense of humor. She touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her kindness and her positive outlook and attitude. She was a woman who dedicated her life to her God, her family and her friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Gayla Crain and late husband Howard of Irving and Robbie Lehman and husband Larry of Tioga. She has three grandchildren, Lori Lehman Huff and husband Heath of Midlothian; Robert Crain of Plano and Laci Lehman Bracewell and husband Bradley of Tioga. Her four great-grandchildren Triston and Kora Huff and Ryli and Brody Bracewell were the delight of her later years. She was preceded in death by her five siblings: Neill, John, James, William and Anna Elizabeth. The visitation will be Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX. The funeral service will be Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Celina, 841 Preston Rd, Celina, TX. A private family burial will be held at the Graceland Cemetery, Jermyn, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dr. R. C. and Marilyn Campbell Scholarship Fund at Dallas Baptist University, the Dr. R. C. and Marilyn Campbell Scholarship Fund at Howard Payne University and to The Marilyn M Campbell Memorial Fund for Buckner.
