She was born in Snyder, Texas on July 15, 1925. Mimi graduated from Snyder High School where she met the love of her life, RW “Slick” Mangum. They married in Snyder on December 5, 1943.
Mimi was a devoted wife and provided a loving home for her family. She loved sewing and quilting, loved sports – especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers – and never missed a chance to attend her grand and great-grandkid’s games and events. She was well known for her cooking and baking. Chicken fried steak with cream gravy, chicken spaghetti and sweet tea were family favorites, and peanut brittle, toffee and other candies were staples every Christmas.
She was happiest spending summers in her Colorado home, taking walks, doing puzzles, playing cards and listening to country music and traditional hymns. Her cabin in Colorado was where she felt closest to her husband after he passed in 1984.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Janson, of Carrollton, TX, son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Cathy Mangum, of Groesbeck, TX, granddaughter, Julie, and her husband, Chris Arrowsmith, of Carrollton, TX, grandson, Major Charles Mangum (US Army), and his wife, Melissa, of Midland, GA and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alyssa, and Grace Arrowsmith, and Kassidy and Wes Mangum. She has left a lasting legacy for those who knew and loved her.
A visitation and celebration of life will be held at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 16 from 6 to 8pm. A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Midland, TX on Saturday, July 20 at 10am.
