Margareta Bonfield

Born in Durnsricht, Germany, on October 28, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Maria Duscher. In 1957, she married the love of her life, Thomas Peter Bonfield, in her native Germany. Their love story began in Stuttgart, where she worked in the hospitality industry and he was stationed with the U.S. Army. Together, they moved to the United States in 1959 and built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.

A devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother, Margareta found joy in the simple and sacred rhythms of daily life. She was a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she found peace in the Rosary and strength in her devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Margareta had a green thumb and a giving heart. She tended to her garden with the same care she showed to those she loved. She cherished long walks with dear friends, wrote regularly to her extended family in Germany, and was always most at home when caring for her own.

She is survived by her children: Edith Frank (David), Tom Bonfield (Kim), Charles Bonfield (Virginia), and Michael Bonfield (Donna); daughter-in-law, Cissie Bonfield, her grandchildren: Jennifer Umana (Douglas), Christopher Frank (Kristin), Christie Davis (Matt), Jessica Welch (Philip), Thomas Bonfield, Travis Bonfield, and Cassidy Bonfield; and her great-grandchildren: Alexander and Julian Umana; George, Margaret, and Harriet Frank; William and James Davis; and Peyton, Abigail, and Zoey Welch.

She is also survived by her siblings: Agnes Krinke (Manfred) and Richard Duscher (Maria), and many nieces and nephews who held her dear.

Margareta is reunited in eternal life with her beloved husband, Thomas P. Bonfield; her son, Richard P. Bonfield; her brothers, Alois, Gerhard, and Josef Duscher; and her sister, Maria Duscher Fuchs.

Margareta’s legacy is one of quiet faith, enduring love, and devotion to her family. May she rest in the peace of Christ and may perpetual light shine upon her.
