Margaret Wells was born in Denton, Texas on February 18, 1924 to James and Martha Hawk.
Margaret spent her childhood in Denton and Mineral Wells. She married Albert Leo Wells on
May 5, 1941. They welcomed their daughter, Carolyn Ann, on April 8, 1944.
Margaret moved to Ellis County in 1965 and was employed in the financial industry including positions with First National Bank of Dallas, First Bank and Trust of Cedar Hill, and Waxahachie Savings and Loan National Bank as Midlothian Branch manager. Margaret retired from Dallas Federal Savings in
1985. She was a licensed Texas real estate agent.
Margaret was a devoted member of Oak Crest Baptist Church and a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star #234 and served as a past matron. She was an honorary member of Troop F-124 Cavalry. Margaret enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and being involved in the Midlothian community. She was a patriotic American and enjoyed many years serving as an elections monitor.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert Wells, daughter Carolyn Avrett, brother James Hawk, sister Martha Smith, brother-in-law Jack Smith, and cousin Eddie Wright.
Survivors who honor her memory include son-in-law, Don Avrett, and grandson, Jason Avrett, both of White Settlement; sister-in-law Harriet Hawk of Fallbrook, California; nephew Jack Smith of Carrollton; nephew Jimmy Hawk; nieces Ronda Gipson, Barbara Mendoza, JoAnn Vodonick, and
Patricia Hienrichs; and many extended family members and loving friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, November 18, at 10:00 a.m. with Laurel Land Funeral
Home, 6000 S. R. L. Thornton Freeway in Dallas with interment at Laurel Land Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service.
