The world has lost a noble, loving woman with the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Louise John Murphy on December 12, 2011, in Dallas, Texas. With her high school sweetheart and husband, John J. Murphy, Louise lived an extraordinary life full of travel and love. She was born on October 27, 1931, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and grew up in Olean, New York. She graduated from Duke University with a Bachelors in education. 60 years ago, Louise and Jack’s journey began in Olean with their marriage. Soon after, they moved throughout the country to Indiana and Michigan till they eventually made Texas their home. Since 1957, they’ve lived in Dallas with their growing family and extensive travels that include memories from Russia, China, Africa, South America, and Indonesia. Louise loved her family and made home for them in Dallas and also in her beloved Olean and Eleuthera, Bahamas. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Margaret John. She is survived by her husband, John Joseph Murphy; her four children: Kathleen Bell, Karen Rochelli, Patricia Smith, and Michael Murphy; her six grandchildren: Heather and Scott Rochelli, Mary and John Bell, and Mandy and Meredith Smith; her brother and his wife: Lewis and Ann John. Also survived by her brother-in-law and his wife: Daniel and Sarah Murphy; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Service will be on Friday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family thanks her three caregivers, Betty Rewinkel, Cynthia Bryant and Rosa Arreola, for making the last year of her life as comfortable and special as was possible.
